Selkirk Tangiers exclusive tenure

Our 200,000 hectare (500,000 acre) ski area is like no other. Our terrain borders two National Parks, Mount Revelstoke and Glacier, and contains some of the most famous heli skiing territory in the world. The STHS tenure is found in both the Selkirk and Monashee Mountains which are noted for their reliable powder snow, expansive glaciers and some of the world's best tree skiing through massive old-growth forests.

The ideal climate and geography

The Selkirk and Monashee Mountains are both sub-ranges of the Columbia Mountains. In the Columbias, snow means powder! Annual snowfall accumulations can amount to 7 metres (23 ft) at the tree line, with 9 metres (30 ft) in the alpine and on the glaciers.

Snow starts falling in September, serving up fantastic early season conditions in December and fresh powder until April. The average winter temperature in Revelstoke at the tree line is -7C (20F) making for some of the most comfortable skiing conditions in western Canada. While the Revelstoke area does experience cold snaps, the coldest January temperatures of -30C (-18F) tend to only last for a few days at a time.

Due to the geographical contours of the mountain ranges, our upper helicopter landing sites occur around 3,000 metres (9,850 ft) in elevation. In some locations and conditions, it is possible to ski 2,200 vertical metres in one run!

No ‘down days'

When storm cycles roll in and even heli skiing in the trees is not an option, guests with Selkirk Tangiers still have the opportunity to get in some turns, with complimentary lift tickets at Revelstoke Mountain Resort (RMR). Once the decision not to fly that day has been made, your guide will bring you and your group to Revelstoke Mountain Resort where you can experience North America's highest lift-serviced vertical, 3031 acres of incredible fall-line skiing, high alpine bowls, 13 areas of gladed terrain and 52 runs. Not bad for a day ‘off'!

Flexible packages

As life gets more and more hectic, sometimes our heli ski packages don't quite fit your schedule. If this happens, don't hesitate to contact our reservations staff who would be happy to build you a custom heli ski experience that fits your timeline and the heli ski trip of your dreams!

Testimonials

I can tell you that when I go to our local mountains and there's a few inches of new snow, all of my friends are like "wow, this is great, we are so lucky!" I chuckle inside thinking they have no idea how much better the terrain and skiing conditions are in Revelstoke. It's definitely spoiled me. I actually have warned people that if they go, it will spoil them as well.

I also go snow cat skiing in the Cascades and it doesn't even compare to what you and your team have to offer, from the food the service at the hotel and the knowledgeable guides to the nightlife in town. We all start thinking about the next trip on the ride home.
