Bluebird Bliss: A Legendary Day with Logan Pehota

“I’ve been heli skiing and shooting photos before, but never like the day I had with Selkirk Tangiers. We got blessed with epic powder, blue skies, and too many runs to remember!”

Revelstoke just experienced one of those magical weeks that heli skiing dreams are made of—bluebird skies, wide-open terrain, and endless lines waiting to be skied. While it hadn’t snowed in a while, Selkirk Tangiers’ vast 500,000-acre tenure meant there was still plenty of untouched terrain to explore. With a stable January snowpack, the right aspect, elevation, and expert guiding, the skiing was nothing short of incredible.

To make the most of the conditions, Selkirk Tangiers brought together an all-star crew to capture the magic, including Red Bull free skier Logan Pehota and award-winning outdoor action and lifestyle photographer Daniel Stewart.

Logan got the call the night before, with an invitation to join the STHS team for a day of shooting. He wasn’t quite sure what “STHS” stood for at first, but as soon as he heard it was Selkirk Tangiers Heli Skiing, he was all in.

“I got the call the night before at 6 p.m. that a crew was going shooting the next day for STHS and asked if I wanted to join. Truthfully, I had never heard of that acronym before, but I had heard of Selkirk Tangiers Heli Skiing, and my friend Laura told me that’s what it stood for. Of course, I said yes, thinking we’d just go for some mellow turns since it hadn’t snowed in a while. Little did I know, I’d be skiing insane tree spine lines in blower, knee-deep powder!”

The day turned out to be one for the books. While fresh snowfall always makes for an easy sell, having a fairly dry January was a testament to the advantage of having half a million acres of terrain to choose from. The crew lapped untouched runs, picking perfect lines where the snow had stayed cold and deep. With blue skies overhead and a fresh perspective on just how good the skiing is, it was an unforgettable session.

For those lucky enough to be in Revelstoke last week, it was a reminder of why this place is considered the ultimate heli skiing destination. And for Logan Pehota, it was an unexpected surprise—one that delivered some of the best turns of the season.

Stay tuned for more from STHS as the winter continues to deliver. If this week was any indication, there are plenty of phenomenal turns to come.
