Dave Pehowich
General Manager

Dave began working at STHS in 1996 after completing his studies in the Thompson Rivers University Adventure Tourism Program. While he was undergoing his ACMG guide training, he was able to work in a few departments at STHS and learn the inner workings of a heli ski company. Dave quickly became one of our integral lead guides, making plans for where to ski in our 500,000 acres of terrain. Over the years, Dave’s leadership and knowledge flourished, which allowed him to progress in his career as our Operations Manager. In March 2022, Dave was appointed General Manager for STHS, following in the footsteps of his mentor, Eriks Suchovs. Fortunately, Dave won’t be spending all of his time behind a desk. You will often see him out in the field guiding guests amongst our incredible terrain.

Dave. P (as we like to call him around here), when not at the office, can be found enjoying some family time, coaching hockey, or fly fishing.

What do you enjoy most about working at STHS? The staff members at STHS are what make my job a real pleasure.  Not to mention the incredible skiing opportunities that await those who venture into the STHS tenure.

How long have you been guiding? Where did you do your training? I have been guiding both in summer and winter for over 20 years.  Starting out guiding river paddling trips and moving into mountain safety work which eventually lead me to becoming an internationally certified Mountain Guide. I have been exploring the Canadian Mountain ranges and enjoy most visiting new places that have seen few human footsteps or ski tracks

Tell us about yourself! I am married with two awesome offspring which are just arriving at adolescence. As a family we enjoy all sorts of pursuits in the outdoors rain or shine and have recently taken trips which challenge us as a family unit

Fun fact you’d like to share with guests? Being an immigrant to Canada as a young boy I have somehow managed to stay fluent in Polish and occasionally enjoy guiding in my mother language.

Alex Nadeau

What do you enjoy most about working at STHS? The skiing and the team!

How long have you been guiding? Where did you do your training? 14 years of guiding, mostly around Revelstoke, BC.

Describe your guiding experience: Three years of cat ski guiding prior to working for STHS, and I usually do some ski-tour guiding each year also.

Tell us about yourself! I have a beautiful partner, Mireille, who also worked for STHS. We have two sons, Maurice and Artur. They both love skiing and hockey!

Dave Sproule
Guides Supervisor

Hometown: Revelstoke.

What do you enjoy most about working at STHS? Working alongside so many great friends and sharing our amazing ski terrain with guests from all over the world. The crew and the playground!

How long have you been guiding? Where did you do your training? Almost 25 years of guiding in the mountains of Western Canada. Ski touring, cat skiing, heli skiing at various operations in BC and New Zealand. Climbing and skiing all over North America.

Tell us about yourself! Although I have dedicated most of my life to skiing, other passions are rock climbing/mountaineering, XC paragliding, mountain biking, wood working, canoeing, dog walking and hanging with my wife and 2 teenagers. I am a certified Tree Feller and work in the bush most summers; either on wildfires or constructing heli pads and glading for ski operations. I’ve had the pleasure of creating and improving many runs at STHS over the years. I fly tandem paragliders from the resort in between everything else.

What’s your favourite run at STHS? Too many to answer. I have a new favourite almost every day! But my guides reports would likely say Surf City.

Fun fact you’d like to share with guests? It is in fact fun to share powder with guests.

What do you enjoy most about working at STHS? The people I work with and fantastic terrain and snowpack.

How long have you been guiding? Where did you do your training? 32 years, trained by ski touring and mountaineering throughout the west. I learned the heli ski trade working at CMH from 1992 to 2006.

Tell us about yourself! My wife and I moved to Revelstoke in 1990. My two beautiful daughters born here in ’96 and ’99 have moved to Vancouver Island… I know the powder is not good out there so just can’t quite figure this out. Good thing I love sailing…

What’s your favourite run at STHS? Do I only get one? There are MANY! But OK, Southern Justice.

Fun fact you’d like to share with guests? It’s possible that I enjoy powder skiing more than ANYONE! HAH!

Pierre Gagnon

What do you enjoy most about working at STHS? An awesome team that feels like family and one of the most diverse and challenging ski tenure in the world.

How long have you been guiding? Where did you do your training? Been guiding since 2005. Trained all over BC and Alberta as well as South America and a little bit in Europe, mainly out of Chamonix. A mix of ski touring and heli skiing.

Tell us about yourself! I have 2 teenagers. I like mountain biking, trail running, as well as sailing. I really enjoy sharing the mountains with incredible guests from around the world.

What’s your favourite run at STHS? We have so many amazing runs! Skid Mark on a sunny afternoon early season. Rad Trees during a snow storm. When glacier skiing is in, the Monashees offer incredible views and very long vertical.

Fun fact you’d like to share with guests? I learned to ski on a 300m vertical hill.

Quinn Castillo

What do you enjoy most about working at STHS? The best thing about Tangiers are my coworkers. The people I work with are great.

How long have you been guiding? Where did you do your training? I’ve been guiding for over 20 years. My first jobs were guiding for some of the ski tour lodges in Southern BC. Robison Heli Magic was my introduction to the heli ski industry.

Tell us about yourself! I live in Revelstoke with my two kids and my beautiful wife.

What’s your favourite run at STHS? I spend most of my time thinking about the runs that haven’t been skied… yet. If I was to pick a run though it would be Gimme Shelter. McDougal Creek is incredible.

Fun fact you’d like to share with guests? I did a physics degree in my 20s. It’s been super helpful in my ski guiding career ;).

What do you enjoy most about working at STHS? We have a great team of guides and staff. The terrain is absolutely amazing and the tenure offers a huge variety of skiing. And being able to work so close to home!

How long have you been guiding? Where did you do your training? I became a IFMGA Mountain Guide in Austria and have been guiding all over the world since 1996.

Tell us about yourself! I live in Revelstoke with my wife Kristen and our kids Eve and Rio.

What’s your favourite run at STHS? Whichever one I’m skiing at the time! It’s always fun to visit the more remote places of our tenure.

How long have you been guiding? Where did you do your training? 12 years. My formal guide training was done in the Columbia Mountains with my roots in the Rocky Mountains.

Tell us about yourself! I’ve been living in Revelstoke for 19 years. I’m passionate about splitboarding and seeing the sport progress in the guiding industry around the world.

What’s your favourite run at STHS? Honeymoon or Stielhang or Silicon Valley or Darling Direct… Too many to have only one!

Fun fact you’d like to share with guests? Sharing the backcountry with friends and guests is genuinely the funnest thing I do. I like dogs too.

How long have you been guiding? Where did you do your training? 15+ years of guiding but almost 25 years as a professional in the ski industry.

Describe your guiding experience: I spent many years honing my skills in the Rocky Mountains and have also worked in Northern BC, the Kootenays, New Zealand and Iceland.

What do you enjoy most about working at STHS? The team of experienced staff make working here so much fun!

How long have you been guiding? Where did you do your training? Guiding for ~35 years, mostly in Alberta and British Columbia with a year in India. My training was in Alberta and British Columbia, Canada.

Tell us about yourself! I am so lucky to have really nice kids who are now adults – one of my own and two step kids. They rock and so does their mom!

What do you enjoy most about working at STHS? The amazing people we get to work with and the opportunity to ski with people from all over the world is by far the best part about working at STHS. Second to the awesome team is the incredible mountain terrain that we are so fortunate to be able to recreate in all winter long.

How long have you been guiding? Where did you do your training? I did most of my guide training in the Canadian Rockies, but completed courses and training throughout Western Canada (interior and coast ranges). I became an apprentice guide in 2015 and a full ski guide in 2017.

Tell us about yourself! I grew up skiing short icy runs in Eastern Canada. When I was 10 years old, my grandparents took my brother and I skiing in British Columbia for a taste of some big mountain skiing. Upon finishing school, my first trip was back out West for a season at the ski hill, which eventually led to many more ski seasons and counting. Revelstoke has been home for 4 years and during the “off-season” (ie. summertime) I like to spend time mountain biking with my wife and canoe tripping.

What’s your favourite run at STHS? Outsolation.

Fun fact you’d like to share with guests? Summer work has taken me paddling on the Pacific, Atlantic, and Arctic Oceans.

What do you enjoy most about working at STHS? The endless terrain, and the team is truly awesome!

How long have you been guiding? Where did you do your training? I started my first guiding gig in 2010, then completed the CAA level 2 and ACMG-ASG program in spring 2017. I did my formal training across Western Canada, but previously skied all over the world in competitions such as FIS racing and the Freeskiing World Tour.

Describe your guiding experience: I’ve worked over 250 days in the guiding field (heli/cat/ski-touring) and also coached ski racing and freeskiing prior to that.

Fun fact you’d like to share with guests? I’ve personally planted over 1 million trees in the great province of BC.

What do you enjoy most about working at STHS? The team and skiing in my backyard. I love these vast and beautiful mountains.

How long have you been guiding? Where did you do your training? I’ve been guiding in some capacity for 20 years. I started guiding in the US PNW, Alaska and South America. However I gained all my guide certifications here in Canada.

Tell us about yourself! After a couple decades guiding around the world in my youth I’m delighted to spend my winter working for STHS in my own backyard. It’s incredible.

In the spring and fall I love to head to the desert of the SW to climb and explore canyons. In the summer I love to be in the high mountains amidst granite spires, alpine tarns and wildflowers. It will never cease to enchant me!

In my down time I love to hang with friends, adventure with my partner, cultivate creativity via art and writing and read. And I love to travel to new places: learning about other cultures, histories and landscapes.

Fun fact you’d like to share with guests? I love skiing the ancient cedar forests in our tenure. Especially when a run started from a high mountain top!

Tomo Fujimura

What do you enjoy most about working at STHS? Sharing knowledge and skills with the STHS guides and my guests.

How long have you been guiding? Where did you do your training? My training started through the Yamnuska Mountaineering Semester in 1999. Then, I became a tail guide as Canadian Ski Guide Association Level 1 in Fernie and Meadow Creek in the 2005 and 2006 seasons. Then, I moved to Revelstoke in 2007 and trained in the Selkirk and Monashee Mountains and Canadian Rockies. I finished my Association of Canadian Mountain Guide Ski Guide in 2021. In addition, I have been involved with European avalanche search and rescue training since 2014 and joined as a working group member and instructor for Mountain Safey.info recognized by International Federation of Mountain Guide.

Tell us about yourself! After I experienced the Size 3 avalanche involvement at Fernie Alpine Resort in January 2006, I became so interested in learning avalanche phenomena and teaching Canadian Avalanche Association courses. Then, I worked as a professional ski patrol from 2007 to 2012 at Revelstoke Mountain Resort and proceeded to become an Avalanche Operation Level 1 Instructor. Throughout my guiding and avalanche training, I have become the 7th Japanese origin ACMG Ski Guide in 2021. Also, I became interested in learning avalanche history and Japanese Canadian history. I am also a hiking guide for Revelstoke Mountain Resort.

What’s your favourite run at STHS? Southern Justice, Charity Basin, Tangiers Glacier and Tangier Pass Glacier.

Fun fact you’d like to share with guests? I received a Canadian Avalanche Association Service Award in 2016 after I worked as an assistant researcher on landofthunderingsnow.ca.

What do you enjoy most about working at STHS? Learning from the wealth of experience on the guiding team. All the amazing staff  And of course the amazing skiing!

How long have you been guiding? Where did you do your training? My training has been all over BC, from the Coast to the Cariboos, Monashees, Selkirks and Rockies. I have been working my way up the ladder in the ski guide industry for about 10 years.

Tell us about yourself! I started my guiding journey volunteering as a leader for the Ski Club of Great Britain, where I led people around the fabulous ski resorts in France. I got hooked on showing people a good time in the mountains, so I moved back to Canada and started training in the ACMG ski guiding program. Since then I’ve worked at several backcountry ski touring lodges, catski operations, and now heliski providers.

What’s your favourite run at STHS? Anything snowy! So most of them. But I do LOVE a good tree run.

Fun fact you’d like to share with guests? In the summertime I’m an aspiring ultra runner. I never thought I’d enjoy ultra races but the vibe is amazing, so I have to keep doing again and again. The plan is to get faster and stronger as the years go on.

Sean Pickersgill
Apprentice Ski Guide

Hometown: Vancouver.

What do you enjoy most about working at STHS? The team and the tenure.

How long have you been guiding? Where did you do your training? I began doing outdoor education canoe trips, hiking, climbing and sea kayaking in 2005 at Strathcona Park Lodge on Vancouver Island. I passed my first ACMG exam in 2013 apprentice rock in Squamish, BC.

Tell us about yourself! I moved to Revelstoke in 2012 to work on the ski patrol. I love climbing, skiing, mountain biking and just being in the mountains and sharing the experience with others. If I’m not outside I’m probably hanging out with my elderly cat.

What’s your favourite run at STHS? Unbelievable but I really just enjoy exploring the tenure and seeing new places.

Olivier Denis-Larocque

What do you enjoy most about working at STHS? The amazing, supportive team, incredibly diverse tenure, and in-town location.

How long have you been guiding? Where did you do your training? I’ve been guiding for 3 years starting as a tail guide and now as an apprentice ski guide at STHS. I enjoy working at remote ski touring lodges across BC. Before working in the industry, I spent some time ski mountaineering in Chamonix, France.

Tell us about yourself! I grew up in downtown Montreal, QC, and started skiing at the ripe old age of two. Apart from the name, you can’t tell I’m a Frenchie. I moved to Revelstoke in 2017. I spend my summers renovating homes in town, mountain biking all over the province, and exploring our wicked alpine.

Evian Rowlands

What do you enjoy most about working at STHS? I enjoy the talented people I work with. This team makes a great heli skiing experience happen.

How long have you been guiding? Where did you do your training? My first apprentice ski guide year will be in 2024. I have been working in the guiding industry in some capacity for 7 years.

Tell us about yourself! I grew up in Northern BC and spent my younger years with skis on my feet as much as possible. I ski raced around Canada and Europe until the age of 18. After this, I moved to Revelstoke and immersed myself in the backcountry skiing world. When I was 19, I did my first practicum with a mountain guide and instantly fell in love with ski guiding work. Skiing is a privilege and I love sharing this with people in the beautiful Selkirk mountains. See you out there!

Tell us about yourself! Before moving to BC, I planned Arctic expeditions while living in France. I came to Revelstoke during the summer, stayed for one winter, and fell in love with the area – I never left.

What do you enjoy most about working at STHS? The amazing team I get to work with every day!

Tell us about yourself, what brought you to Revelstoke? I’ve worked many ski seasons both in Australia and BC. During my first winter in Canada I made a day trip to ski at Revelstoke Mountain Resort – it was a bluebird powder day in March and I absolutely fell in love with the mountains and the town! It took me a couple of years to come back to Revelstoke but I made it my home in 2014 and haven’t looked back.

What’s your favourite run at STHS? Any run that I get to ski in our amazing tenure is a good one!

Fun fact you’d like to share with guests? I have a new Bernese Mountain Dog puppy named Theo – one day he’ll be put to work pulling your lunch and soup around the hotel! Stop by the Reservations office and you might be lucky enough to get a snuggle!

What do you enjoy most about working at STHS? The amazing team I get to work with. I also love being able to share my passion for all that Revelstoke has to offer both summer and winter.

Tell us about yourself, what brought you to Revelstoke? We always found ourselves driving many hours to access remote hiking and skiing. In 2009 we decided to move to Revelstoke and have never looked back. We love raising our family here and sharing our love for the outdoors with them as they grow.

What’s your favourite run at STHS? Any of them! Though I do really love bluebird skiing in any of our alpine bowls.

Fun fact you’d like to share with guests? I am a trained jeweller and enjoy creating in gold and silver to include semiprecious gems I collect in our mountains.

Colette Poirier

What do you enjoy most about working at STHS? Work is wonderful. My coworkers are amazing and I love the excitement of people going heli skiing. We make the best days of people’s lives, every day!

Tell us about yourself, what brought you to Revelstoke? I love skiing deep pow and climbing rocks. There are plenty of both to explore here in this community, which I fell in love with years ago while making trips from Alberta to climb in Skaha or Squamish. Eventually my partner and I decided to make the move here, get married, buy a house and have some little people. The rest is blissful history!

What’s your favourite run at STHS? Any of the runs our incredible guides have taken me on have been unforgettable. I love skiing in our Selkirk Mountains!!

Fun fact you’d like to share with guests? Growing up I had a 6ft iguana as my pet. As an adult I’ve traded lizards for dogs and have one named Biner. Now we have a bearded dragon “Chris”, named after the incredible professional climber Chris Sharma

What do you enjoy most about working at STHS? Definitely the skiing and the welcoming, supportive team. Plus my role is very diverse – every day is different so it makes it very interesting.

Tell us about yourself, what brought you to Revelstoke? I love white water, frozen or not. I’ve being guiding rafts for 14 seasons, so when the wife and I where looking to move to BC we started checking out Golden to get on the world-renowned Kicking Horse River. But my wife got a great job here in Revelstoke, so we moved here in 2006 and have been playing on the Illecillewaet River in the summers and STHS in the winters ever since!

What do you enjoy most about working at STHS?The skiing, the team and of course helping every guest have their best day ever. But the skiing is certainly on top.

Tell us about yourself, what brought you to Revelstoke? Like many people, I came out here for the Winter and the mountains, but ended up staying for the Summers. Outdoor is where I belong, and living and working in Revelstoke allows me to get outdoors and see incredible sights each and every day.

Fun fact you’d like to share with guests? If I’m not working at Selkirk, you can find me managing Blanket Creek Provincial Park during the warmer months.

Sylvain guided at STHS from 1991 to 2020, although he spent a few seasons in between, guiding and doing avalanche forecasting contract work at different locations in BC, Quebec and South America. He has always said that the STHS tenure has some of the best snow and terrain anywhere! He continues to guide ski touring clients around Revelstoke. He’s skied so much pow during his career that he now gets a kick out of getting first tracks on the groomers at the Nordic ski club

What do you enjoy most about working at STHS? The people! The team I worked with and the guests that come ski with us, year after year.

Tell us about yourself, what brought you to Revelstoke? Moved to Revelstoke in 1977 with my family when my father got a job at the Revelstoke Dam.

What’s your favourite run at STHS? Flying around Ghost Peak has always been a favorite.

Fun fact you’d like to share with guests? I came to work at STHS for a 2 week stint back in 1989… And I haven’t left since!

I felt privileged to work and ski with such a talented group of professional guides. I spent 8 seasons exploring this amazingly ski tenure and have just had a taste! Just remember the snow is always a little deeper in Standfast Creek!
