Protect Your Heli-Ski Trip
Selkirk Tangiers Heli Skiing
Protect Your Heli-Ski Investment
A heli-ski trip is a significant investment. Make sure you’re prepared if unexpected circumstances affect your plans.
Heli-skiing takes place in a dynamic mountain environment. Weather, avalanche conditions and other circumstances outside our control can occasionally affect skiing. Unexpected events can also prevent you from travelling or interrupt a trip that has already begun.
Selkirk Tangiers has defined cancellation and refund policies that determine what we can provide when plans change. Travel insurance may provide additional financial protection for certain eligible circumstances, depending on the policy you purchase.
Understanding both before your trip can help you make an informed decision about how to protect your investment.

Trip Cancellation and Trip Interruption
Understanding when your insured trip begins can be important. Trip Cancellation generally relates to circumstances before your trip begins, while Trip Interruption relates to circumstances after travel has begun. Coverage depends on the applicable insurance policy and the insurer’s assessment.
Trip Cancellation
Trip Cancellation insurance may apply when an insured event prevents you from beginning your trip. Whether an event or expense is covered depends on the policy terms, exclusions, eligibility requirements and the insurer’s assessment.
Trip Interruption
Trip Interruption insurance may apply when an insured event disrupts a trip after departure. If STHS provides an applicable refund, the insurer would consider that refund when assessing any eligible unused and non-refundable travel costs.
A 3-Day Classic Example
Scenario
You are in Revelstoke and scheduled to begin your 3-Day Classic the following morning. Due to unsafe conditions, STHS determines that the entire three-day heli-ski program cannot safely operate.
Because no heli-skiing takes place, none of the 9,000 guaranteed vertical metres are achieved.
STHS Guaranteed-Vertical Refund
9,000 m not achieved
× $180 per 1,000 m
Maximum STHS refund: $1,620 CAD + tax
Any remaining non-refundable loss is the guest’s responsibility.
STHS Refund Comes First
STHS first provides the applicable $1,620 CAD + tax guaranteed-vertical refund.
The guest can then submit the remaining eligible, non-refundable loss to the insurer for assessment.
The insurer determines what additional coverage applies under the policy.
